Kerala’s intense southwest monsoon is set to persist for a few more days. This is due to an offshore trough that stretches from the Maharashtra coast down to the Kerala coast. The heavy rainfall has already impacted daily life, leading to school closures and disrupted transport. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued various alerts for different districts, indicating the severity of the situation.

Heavy Rainfall in Kerala Continues
Kerala has been experiencing heavy rain for the past two days. The Regional Met Centre in Thiruvananthapuram has issued an orange alert for Wayanad and Kannur, and a yellow alert for Kasaragode, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Idukki, and Ernakulam.
IMD prediction and Monsoon Update
The continuous downpour is expected to bring more challenges in the coming days. The IMD predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall along the West Peninsular Coast over the next 3-4 days and in northeast India from June 27 to June 30. Rainfall is expected to increase in Northwest India from June 28 to June 30. The IMD states that the Northern Limit of the Monsoon is currently passing through several areas and is likely to advance further into various parts of the country over the next 3-4 days.
