'Never blamed Manish Sisodia for liquor scam': Kejriwal tells court, says 'CBI spreading false narratives'
The CBI formally arrested Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday asserted that CBI sources fabricated information in the media even as the Delhi court reserved its order on a plea by the probe agency seeking the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo’s custody after it formally arrested him.

Kejriwal told the court, “A false narrative is being spread by CBI sources in media that I have put the blame of liquor policy scam on Manish Sisodia. I have not made any such statement blaming Manish Sisodia or any other person. I had said that Manish Sisodia is innocent. Aam Aadmi Party is innocent. I am innocent.”

“Their entire plan is to defame us in front of the media. Please record that all these have been run in media through CBI sources,” he said, PTI reported.

These developments follow arguments in the court regarding the arrest of Kejriwal by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Kejriwal also claimed that the CBI was sensationalising the issue. “It needs to be clarified. This will be the top headline in all the newspapers. They aim to sensationalise the matter,” he said.

The CBI counsel, however, said that they had argued on facts and that no agency source had stated anything.

The central probe agency had produced Kejriwal before the Rouse Avenue Courts today, after the Delhi High Court stayed his bail. The matter was heard by vacation judge Amitabh Rawat.
